Born Clémence Guichard, she took her mother’s maiden name, Poésy, as her stage name. Her mother is a French teacher and her father, Étienne Guichard, is a theatre director and actor, and gave his daughter her first acting job when she was 14 years old. She attended La Source, when she was 16, and studied Drama at CNSAD and then went to the University of Nanterre. She appeared in several French films, television and Theatre plays. Her first English-speaking role was in the BBC mini-series Gunpowder, Treason & Plot, in 2004, where she played Mary I of Scotland. In 2005, she became known worldwide for her role as Fleur Delacour in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. In 2010, she played the role of Eva, Chuck Bass’s French girlfriend, in the fourth season of the hit show Gossip Girl. In 2012, she co-starred with Eddie Redmayne in the BBC mini-series based on Sebastian Faulks' book, Birdsong, where she played the female leading role.

Clémence lives in Paris, although she spends a lot of time in London. She describes her styles as: «comfortable, free and poetic», she adores hats and combining different rings and buys lots of clothes from vintage stores. She’s also a musician, she plays guitar and sang on the debut album by Last Shadow Puppets.
