Oscars 2013: Best and Worst

The Oscars are a huge deal when it cames to Red Carpet Fashion, but this year it was quite a disappointment to me: a handful of boring gowns and no «wow» gown. Everyone played safe this year, I don't get it... It was kind of a boring year in Red Carpet Fashion at the Oscars. There were beautiful gowns, hideous gowns, beautiful gowns that didn’t flatter the person who wear it… and a hand full of boring gowns. The whole ceremony was kind of a fiasco to me and I didn’t get why some people won, but this post isn’t about the artistic side, but the Fashion side. 

 
Let’s take a look at my Best and Worst looks on the Oscars 2013 Red Carpet.

BEST 

 

Jessica Chastain in Armani Prive 

Jessica Chastain goes Jessica Rabbit and looks stunning while doing it. 

She didn't get the Best Actress Oscar, but surely won the Best Dressed Award.  

 Jennifer Lawrence in Dior Haute Couture

Jennifer was the Cinderella of the night. She fell in the stairs but the fairy-godmother 

gave her the Best Actress Oscar for her role as Tiffany in Playbook Silver Linings.

Naomi Watts in Armani Prive

Naomi looked pure beauty in this asymmetrical silver gown

 Charlize Theron in Dior Haute Couture

What can I say? Charlize is pure elegance.

Amanda Seyfried in Alexander McQueen

 Amanda turned into an ethereal vision in this beautiful McQueen gown.

 Giuliana Rancic in Rafael Cennamo

Simple yet effective: Giuliana prove that you can never go wrong with a little black dress.

 Eddie Redmayne in Alexander McQueen

The men's prerogative. Dashing British actor Eddie Redmayne looked elegant in this McQueen tuxedo. 

During the night, there weren't any empty chairs or empty tables around him, for sure!

Adorable and fresh - are the best words to describe this overall.

 Samantha Barks in Valentino
Samantha proved that black gowns can look young and refreshing.

 

 WORST 

 Halle Berry in Versace

I don't even want to know what's happening with Halle Berry these days...
Someone bring her a spaceship because Halle is ready to overtake the Death Star.

 

Brandi Glanville in her own brand BrandiB

Brandi sure caused impact in showing up in her own design and for all the wrong reasons.

Bad tailoring, way too much cleavage and leg showing... 

 Octavia Spencer in Tadashi Shoji

You can now kiss the bride. Oh, wait! This is the Oscars...

Adele in Jenny Packham

And once again, I beg: Stop dressing the woman like an old lady!

I don't even need to say anything... 

The silk gown (is that a gown?) is hideous, doesn't flatter her figure and that hairdoo...

I don't even want to understand this goth-shinny-space look.

Seems like someone wanted to be this year Angelina Jolie... 
This asymmetrical gown goes terrible with those sandals.

 Anne Hathaway in Prada

She may have won the Best Supporting Actress Oscar, but she still dreams a dream that she's Audrey Hepburn.

Boring look and the back of this gown is not one of my favorites, nor the silver sandals she was wearing.

 Jennifer Garner in Gucci

This overall screams «boring!» from top to bottom. 

I'm almost falling asleep here and not even that fussy back is awaking me.

 Amy Adams in Oscar de La Renta

Someone took her role as Giselle in Enchanted way too seriously...
Light Grey was a bad option; Amy looks like she's vanishing into the gown.

 Reese Witherspoon in Louis Vuitton

This electric blue gown didn't flatter our favorite country darling in any way...

Runway: Margaret Howell Ready-to-Wear Spring/Summer 2013

London is the proud home of some of the World's most experimental and avant-garde Fashion designers, although it's also the home of tomboy minimal chic Margaret Howell. Fashion Industry is full of details and Howell’s minimalism is definitely one of my faves. 

«It was about simple elegance with a juvenile frivolity - coveralls, berets, pinafores - all easy to wear and just feel-good summer pieces», said Vogue executive fashion director Calgary Avansino. «She does the crispest white without it ever feeling hard.» 

I have to say I’m in love with the beach leather sandals!

She loves all kinds of food, especially Canadian and American traditional food and one of her favorite restaurants is The Blue Ribbon, in New York. Alana enjoys spending her free time with her boyfriend and her closest friends, as well as knitting, running and practicing Yoga. She considers Happiness to be the most important thing in life.
